First impressions and unboxing
TaskuMuro tested the Huawei MediaPad M3 and walked through its features and performance to see whether this compact tablet delivers as a media device and whether it justifies its €399 price tag.
Packaging follows a minimalist design. The 8-inch tablet sits very snugly in its box; removing it required a bit of force to extract it from its tight recess.
Design and build
The MediaPad feels solid and premium in hand thanks to its aluminum body. Huawei does not claim any special drop protection, and the review did not attempt to test durability through impact.
What’s in the box
Alongside the tablet you get a charging cable, a fast-charging power adapter, a SIM-eject tool, and separately packaged AKG H300 in-ear headphones. The bundled AKG earbuds outclass the typical bulk headphones manufacturers usually include with phones and tablets.
Where it aims to compete
Android tablets face intense competition as major manufacturers try to differentiate themselves from low-cost alternatives. Makers emphasize design, battery life, gaming optimizations and, in the MediaPad M3’s case, media capabilities.
Huawei has positioned the tablet around sound quality, including speakers tuned by Harman/Kardon as a key selling point.
Performance testing
TaskuMuro measured the device’s performance to evaluate whether such a small tablet can serve reliably for media consumption. The review’s benchmarks and real-world tests were used to assess responsiveness and media playback capabilities.
Verdict
The MediaPad M3 offers a sturdy aluminum build, strong audio credentials with AKG-tuned hardware, and a premium feel for its segment. At its €399 price, the tablet targets users who prioritize sound and build quality in a compact Android slate.
