Design and availability
With rounded sides but a clear rectangular shape, the Watch Fit 4 Pro keeps the squared look of the Fit family. Huawei released the watch in the middle of May. The base price for the Watch Fit 3 is 169 euros, and the Watch Fit 4 Pro that we tried costs 279 euros.
The Pro comes in black, blue, and green in Finland. The green review unit comes with a woven cloth strap, while the black and blue ones have fluoroelastomer straps.
In the box and strap comfort
The watch, a USB-A wireless charge puck, a booklet with information about the warranty and the product, and the green woven strap are all in the retail box.
The cloth strap is easy to bend and wear. Its Velcro-style closing makes it easy to get the right fit. It’s nice and light, and it breathes better than rubber bands.
Even though its sporty look might not work for every event, the strap was very easy to wear for almost four weeks of testing. The strap is attached with a quick-release device, which makes it easy to switch bands. The attachment method doesn’t follow a standard, which is a bad thing.
Build, weight, and durability
The watch is very light right after it comes out of the box. Huawei says it weighs 30.4 grams without the strap. When worn all the time, it doesn’t even feel like it’s there on the wrist. It is made of metal, which helps explain why it is so light. The case is 40 x 44.5 x 9.3 millimeters square.
With a 5 ATM rating, the Watch Fit 4 Pro is waterproof, so you can use it in dirty or wet places without worrying. For the time of the test, the case and screen glass did not show any signs of normal use.
Controls and hardware
A colored crown that matches the strap adds a fun touch and gives different kinds of physical feedback depending on the situation. There are clear steps for scrolling through notifications, but the main app menu lets you scroll around more easily. The crown can also be used as a button to open the list of apps or as a start/stop button for workouts. Pressing it twice takes you back to the previous view.
There is a button below the crown that can be changed and that starts the Workout menu by default. It can have a different action given to it. The watch’s Wallet payment app is set to open when you press it twice, but you can’t use Wallet payments in Finland. One of the biggest problems with the device is that it doesn’t support mobile payments from the wrist like many other smart and sports watches do.
Another weak spot is the sound motor. Its input is rough and buzzy instead of smooth. It works, but it feels less expensive than some of Huawei’s more expensive phones. The buzzing is less annoying when you change the sound setting to “soft.”
Setup and connectivity
The Huawei Health app is needed for setup. A test version of the app found the new model during the review. A Samsung phone was used to test the watch. You can’t get Huawei Health from Google Play; you have to get it from Huawei’s website or AppGallery. On Samsung phones, you can get it from the Galaxy Store. The Huawei Health app for Apple users can be found in the App Store.
Bluetooth is always used to connect the watch. It doesn’t have LTE or Wi-Fi. The app is easy to use and makes sense, but some information is spread out across several screens. The fact that all the health info is in one place is helpful.
Display
The 1.82-inch AMOLED screen is a good size for the case, and the thin edges give it a modern look. It has a resolution of 480 x 408. The watch can instantly change the brightness and can reach a maximum brightness of 3000 nits. The screen has a lot of brightness, so it’s easy to read in bright sunlight.
It’s possible to set the monitor to be on all the time. Most of the time, the watch face will dim or turn off at night, so AOD won’t wake you up. However, turning on AOD will use about twice as much power. The new model also comes with more watchface types, most of which are sporty or fun, and many of them can be changed to fit your needs.
Features and sensors
Some sports and activities can only be done with the Pro version. For example, free diving and golf with course details are not available with this model. Downloadable maps with slope contours are helpful for trail runners. In general, there are a lot of sports modes to choose from.
Huawei measures heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and an ECG with its better TruSense sensor set. The watch has an ECG function that takes a trace every 30 seconds. It also has a tool called Arterial Stiffness Detection, and it can now track heart rate variability (HRV). The Watch Fit 4 Pro can measure a lot of different aspects of your health and well-being.
Accuracy and GPS
Before, the Watch Fit 3 had some problems with getting the heart rate right, but the Fit 4 Pro did not. The heart rate was quickly tracked and matched up with other devices.
The GPS worked really well. GNSS with two bands (L1 and L5) got a fix quickly, sometimes while it was still inside an apartment building. During the test, positioning worked well. Most of the time, counting steps was good, but sometimes a few short steps were missed. The watch has a barometer built in, which lets you track your position as well.
Daily use and sleep tracking
With features like daily exercise goals, the watch gets you moving every day. Sleep tracking checks your heart rate and breathing rate while you sleep, and you can choose to also check your breathing. The first few nights of sleep results were all over the place, but after a few nights, they became stable and made sense by the end of the test time.
The watch is small enough to wear all the time because the strap is light and comfy. Smooth edges make things more comfortable when you play sports or sleep.
Software experience
You can get HarmonyOS 5.1 on the watch. The design is easy to use and familiar to people who already have a Huawei Watch. If you swipe down from the home screen, you can quickly change settings. If you swipe up, you can get alerts, which always show up quickly. Reading a phone message on the watch does not get rid of it on the phone. Side swipes show the favorites list and a smart helper.
Calendar, Flashlight, Timer, Alarm, Stopwatch, Calculator, Weather, Compass, Workout Data, Barometer, and Petal Maps are some of the apps that come with the phone. Through AppGallery, you can add more apps to your phone. There is third-party support, but not as much as there is for the Apple Watch or Wear OS app platforms.
Battery life and charging
In general, Huawei says that the battery will last between one and ten days. In real life, this was true. The watch could work for up to nine days without long GPS sessions when alerts and standard tracking were turned on. Even with 30–60 minute GPS sessions every day, the watch still worked well into the end of the week.
It’s quick to charge. Using the wireless charging stick that came with the phone, a dead battery was fully charged in 55 minutes. Instead of the Fit 3’s private cable, the Pro charges wirelessly.

- Accurate, bright display.

Verdict
You won’t find anything new in the Fit 4 Pro if you already have a Watch Fit 3 or another light tracker that works for you. It is still very well made, has a sporty look, and has a lot of features that most people will find sufficient. Its battery doesn’t need to be charged very often.
The most difficult thing for the Watch Fit 4 Pro is its price. For about one hundred euros less, you can get the cheaper Watch Fit 4, which has some of the same features but fewer materials. At €279, the Pro goes up against watches with more features, like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7, the OnePlus Watch 3, and the Watch SE for Apple users during deals. The main pros of the Fit 4 Pro are that it is light and has a long battery life. However, in Finland, it doesn’t allow wrist payments.
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro is well-made and very comfortable to wear, but it’s not a big deal in the world of smartwatches.
