Samsung’s Galaxy S24 FE is a slightly trimmed-down take on the Galaxy S24 Plus. In many respects it performs competently, but competition at this price point is fierce.
Display and design
The phone uses a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with adaptive refresh that switches between 60Hz and 120Hz. Dimensionally it’s close to the S24 Plus, measuring 77.3 x 162.0 x 8.0 millimeters and weighing 213 grams.
Performance and storage
Unlike the other S24 family models, the S24 FE runs on Samsung’s Exynos 2400e chipset. It ships with 8 gigabytes of RAM, and in Finland the storage options are 128GB and 256GB.
Cameras
The S24 FE carries a triple rear camera array. That includes a 50-megapixel wide sensor with optical image stabilization and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens offering 3x optical zoom and OIS. A 12-megapixel ultrawide completes the trio. Selfies are handled by a 10-megapixel front camera.
Battery and extras
Battery capacity is 4,700 milliampere-hours. Samsung promises the same long-term software support as its pricier models: seven years of operating system and security updates. The handset also includes Galaxy S24 series AI features such as Circle to Search, interpreter and translation tools, and a notes assistant.
Price, colors, and launch notes
The recommended starting price is 799 euros. Color options are blue, graphite gray, gray, mint green, and yellow. At launch some retailers were already offering steep promotions, including roughly 200-euro discounts for loyalty customers and bundled smartwatches, making the list price somewhat misleading.
How it stacks up
Direct rivals include Google’s Pixel 9 at a 829-euro list price and the Pixel 9 Pro at 1,149 euros, which have seen trade-in campaign discounts up to 400 euros at some retailers. The S24 FE also competes with the iPhone 16, OnePlus 12, and Samsung’s own Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus.
What’s been trimmed
Compared with the visually similar Galaxy S24 Plus, the S24 FE has a lower screen resolution (2340 x 1080 versus the S24 Plus’s 3120 x 1440). The Exynos 2400e chip is not quite as fast as the higher-end silicon, the telephoto camera and ultrawide cameras are slightly weaker, and the battery is 200 mAh smaller.
Packaging
Following current industry practice, Samsung excludes the power adapter from the retail box. The phone ships with only a USB-C charging cable and documentation.
