Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Aims High Against the iPad Pro — Here’s What You Get

Tablets still struggle to regain momentum

Tablets have not caught the wave many expected. Apple delivered a polished, ready-to-use iPad lineup early on, while Android alternatives took longer to reach the same level. Samsung’s Tab S3 gets close, but the question is whether it’s enough.

Launched at MWC as a rare high-end Android tablet

Samsung quietly introduced the Galaxy Tab S3 at this year’s Mobile World Congress. It arrived at a time when true flagship Android tablets are uncommon.

Pricing puts Tab S3 squarely against the iPad Pro

The Galaxy Tab S3 starts at 699 euros for the Wi‑Fi model. Adding LTE connectivity pushes the price up by another 100 euros. That places Samsung directly against Apple’s 64GB Wi‑Fi iPad Pro, which costs 749 euros. Apple refreshed those models in June, and the smaller iPad Pro now features a display that is just under an inch larger than Samsung’s at 10.5 inches.

Few Android rivals in the same bracket

There aren’t many Android competitors in the same price range. Lenovo’s Yoga Tab3 Pro and Asus’s new ZenPad 3S come close, but they are typically 100 to 200 euros cheaper. Samsung’s own predecessor, the Tab S2 New Edition, also sits in a similar, lower price band alongside those rivals.

What’s in the box

The Tab S3’s retail packaging follows Samsung’s familiar styling. As part of the Galaxy family, the box is mostly black with only brand and model logos as decoration. Inside you get the tablet, a fast-charging power adapter, a quick start guide, and an S Pen.
